On January 1, 2025, the 31st "Mutianyu Great Wall New Year's Day Sunrise Viewing Event" themed "Dawn's First Light·Bliss in the Year of the Snake" was held as scheduled. Bathed in the dawn light of the new year, nearly a thousand tourists arrived to ascend the Great Wall, watch the sunrise, and welcome the new year. At the peak of the Great Wall, they enjoyed the gift of the rising sun to mankind.
The event kicked off with the opening dance, "Inspiring China, Splendid Landscape of Mutianyu" which honored the prosperous country and its splendid landscapes. The drum represents the spirit, and the dance signifies strength. The drumming and dancing inspire people to strive continually forward, just as the Great Wall has motivated people to unite and forge ahead for thousands of years. The exciting drumbeats and vigorous dances served as the call of the new year, urging us to move forward bravely and embrace new challenges.
Following that, a dragon and lion dance titled "Dragon Dancing on the Earth, Fulfilling Dreams at the Great Wall" performed by a intangible cultural heritage group of disabled people from Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, took the stage. Under the control of the dancers, the dragons and lions sometimes leaped and tumbled, sometimes circled and hovered, showcasing the charm and vitality of traditional Chinese culture. This was not only a visual feast but also a cultural inheritance.
After the exciting drumming and lively dragon and lion dances, the red song singing session began. One classic red song after another sang out the powerful voice of the times, echoed the aspirations of the people, and expressed our pride in the prosperous country.
During the event, costumed figures of the God of Wealth distributed blessings and small gifts to tourists. Mutianyu Great Wall also collaborated with "Excellent Chinese Art" to present tourists with the first handwritten Fu character of the new year.
As dawn approached, the sky gradually turned a light blue, and Mutianyu Great Wall, illuminated by the morning light, looked like a huge dragon winding among the mountains. At this moment, the Great Wall was serene and solemn, as if telling stories of the past and waiting for new legends.
