In the morning of September 4th, President Denis Sassou-Nguesso of the Republic of the Congo and President Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera of Malawi, who came to China to attend the 2024 China-Africa Cooperation Forum Summit, visited the Mutianyu Great Wall separately. The chairman of Beijing Mutianyu Great Wall Tourism Service Co., Ltd., Dong Li, accompanied them during the visit.
President Denis Sassou-Nguesso and his delegation arrived at the Great Wall by an upgraded enclosed cable car. During the tour, President Sassou Nguesso was deeply impressed by the magnificent architecture of the Mutianyu Great Wall, which is a symbol of the Chinese nation, and could not help but praise the grandeur of this defensive structure.
In his message, President Denis Sassou-Nguesso said, "I pay tribute to the unparalleled defensive fortifications, the builders of the Great Wall. I pay tribute to the constructors of the millennial China, one of the world's ancient civilizations. I will always marvel at this masterpiece created by the great people. I hope that the Great Wall, a remarkable heritage of all mankind, will be preserved forever. I am grateful to the Chinese government and people for inviting me to visit twice in 1964 and 2024!"
To express welcome and respect, Chairman Dong Li of Mutianyu presented President Sassou-Nguesso with a certificate of ascending the Great Wall and a Mutianyu Great Wall crystal-carved and painted plate. Both sides exchanged sincere wishes.
Accompanied by a gentle drizzle, President Chakwera listened intently as the guide elaborated on the defensive system and construction of the Great Wall, repeatedly marveling at the profound wisdom of the ancient Chinese people.
Subsequently, President Chakwera inscribed a message on the Great Wall.
Chairman Dong Li presented him with a exquisite gift from the Mutianyu Great Wall.
