Ying Fei Dao Yang (Eagle Flying Upside Down)

2023-11-28

"Eagle Flying Upside Down" section of the Great Wall is a a wonder to behold. The steep peaks and cliffs that the Great Wall climbs over resemble the inverted beaks of eagles, towering and rugged. The high mountains and strong winds here can even flip eagles upside down, demonstrating the danger and steepness of the Great Wall.

The Great Wall crosses over towering peaks, and the slopes on either side of the peaks are usually very steep, making this section of the Great Wall extremely dangerous. Like an eagle flying upside down, one side is a standing cliff, while the other side is a slope greater than 70 degrees. The Great Wall climbs from one side of the peak to the top, and then descends vertically from the other side, with a height difference of ten meters. Each step is only a few fingers wide, barely enough to fit one foot. Therefore, it is described as even requiring eagles to fly upside down to pass through, hence the name "Eagle Flying Upside Down", which is extremely dangerous. Photos of the Eagle Flying Upside Down have become excellent visuals in the media.
